Obituary:
Funeral services for Lucy Sand Drywater will be held 2:00 Wednesday February 3, 2010 in the Chapel of Green Country Funeral Home. Officiating will be Reverends Gerald Fixin and Aaron Robinson. Serving as pallbearers are John Cheater, William Fields, Nicky Ross, Adam Chuculate, A.J. Drywater, Casey Drywater, Micha O’Field and Felix Fixin. Honorary pallbearers will be Tony Ross, Carl Shade, Mike Smoker, Tommy Henson, Ethan Sand, and Ryan “Joggy” Fields. Interment will follow in the Agent Cemetery under the care of Green country Funeral Home. Online condolences may be left at tahlequahfuneral.com.

Lucy (Sand) Drywater was born July 28, 1911 in Chewey, OK to William Sand and Jennie Sourjohn. She was called home on January 31, 2010 in Tahlequah, OK at the age of 98 years 6 months and 3 days.

Lucy was baptized into the New Mission Baptist Church at the age of 15. She held the position of clerk and deaconess at the Vann Lake Baptist Church and gave many years of service to the Steeley Springs Baptist Church of Tahlequah where she was a member.

She loved quilting, cooking, fishing, gospel music and traveling. Lucy was blessed to see six generations which included 47 grandchildren, 111 great grandchildren, 94 great-great grandchildren and 2 great- great- great grandchildren.

Lucy was preceded in death by her husband, Reverend Joe Chuneequeleeskee Drywater; her parents, William and Jennie Sand; her daughters, Jessie Mae Cochran and Mary Brackett; two sisters, Mary McIntosh and Lizzie Grass; three brothers, John Sand, Richard Sand and Joe Sand;
a stepson, George Drywater; granddaughters, Nancy Cummings, Nancy Chuculate and Anna
Fay Buie; grandsons, Jerry Cheater and Jimmy Brackett; two granddaughters; one great grandson; and two great-great grandsons.

She is survived by her sons, Reverend Bill Drywater and wife Becky of Tahlequah, OK; Larry Drywater and wife Sandy of Broken Arrow; daughters Janie Fields, Kansas, OK; Pauline Cheater, of the home; Irene Fixin, Muskogee, OK, Rosemary Ross and husband Jack of Tahlequah, OK.; sisters Katie Hendricks of Langley, OK and Emma Webster of Tahlequah, OK. She will be missed by all.
