Obituary:
On August 10, 1941, in Oberlin, KS. Lea Don McChesney brightened the lives of Alfred Edward and Opal (Pelky) McChesney. He joined his brother Carl Lee, his sister Donna Pauline, and brother Dale Edward. Almost three years later his youngest sister Vergie Faye would join their family.

Lea Don passed from this life on March 2, 2010 in Rose, Oklahoma at the age of 68 years 5 months and 23 days.

Lea Don began his education in Scottsbluff, NE but shortly thereafter his family moved to Minitare, NE were he continued into high school. He played the coronet in the marching band, played first string in basketball and excelled in Boy Scouts.

Eventually, Lea Don moved to Oklahoma City where he would meet his bride, Fannie Marie Cashion. They married on August 27, 1960. In 1963 they moved to Stilwell, OK and began their family. In 1964 eldest daughter Stephanie Dawn was born, followed by son Alfred Edward, and youngest daughter Stacey Donnell.

Lea Don operated his own business as a brick layer for many years. He often worked 6-7 days per.week and 12-16 hours a day. When not building homes he worked on his dream of a farm.

In 1968 Lea Don, Fannie and Stacey moved to Gentry, AR where he was able to devote all of his time to the farm. He tended cattle and operated chicken houses. In 1996 Lea Don and Fannie moved to Rose, OK where they continued to build upon years of work. Once again cattle and chickens is what occupied the farm. He eventually sold the chicken business and concentrated on cattle.

He worked the land like a painter would paint a masterpiece. He had a wit about him that would make anyone laugh. He provided for his wife and family. He taught his children and grandchildren how to work, how to endure and how to carry on.

Lea Don is preceded in death by his parents Alfred and Opal, a brother Carl who gave his life at the age of 19 in WWII, and his brother Dale.

Lea Don is survived by his wife , companion, and help mate of 49 years, Fannie Marie Cashion McChesney; eldest daughter Stephanie and husband Dan, grandchildren Justin and Danielle; son Alfred Edward and wife Lela, grandchildren Jared and Molly; youngest daughter Stacey and husband Robert, grandchildren Jordan and David; his oldest sister, Donna McGwen Ward, and youngest sister Vergie Allen and husband Gerald; sister-in-laws Micki McChesney and Hattie Henson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
